This past month has been such an amazing close to many winter sports seasons with many wins and high rankings.
On Saturday February 14th PHS Wrestling won their second regional title in a row allowing them to travel to Virginia beach where they were able to compete at states in Virginia Beach. At regionals the Indians were led by Elijah Smith and Nathan Shelton as regional champions and many other runner ups including Jakob Thomas, Brady Beard, Jackson Faris, and Wesley Carl. Following them were Tiago Earazo and Gavin Tomlinson in 3rd, Ian Mathuse, Roy Fridley and Brandon Cambell in 4th, CT Rich in 5th and Matthew Taylor in 6th.
On Thursday February 12th your PHS Swim Team competed in their regional competition as well. The girls finished 8th overall and the boys in 9th. Some highlights from the meet include the girls 200 freestyle relay of Hayden Russel, Elizabeth Vallent, Lauren Skythes and Chloe Balas placing 5th, Hayden Russel placing 7th in her 100 freestyle, and Elizabeth Vallent also taking 7th in the 50 free. A huge congratulations to the boys 200 medley relay of Ben Compton, Joe Kelley, Hunter Shupp and Brady Rinehart for placing third and securing their spot at States. At states a week later the boys managed to swim a new PR and have an amazing end to the season.
This past weekend our show choir won many awards such as Best Show design, Best Choreography, Best Vocals and 1st place in their tier. On Thursday Radiance placed 3rd, and One Voice placed 2nd. A special shoutout to Emma Bolton for winning Showmanship and Cole James Swainy for winning Best Soloist.
