The horror genre in cinema has gotten more and more popular over the decades with the 80s being known for its slashers and bringing forth some of the most well known and iconic horror movies of all time with Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, and masterpieces like The Shining. With many horror genres and directors around the world today there is always something new and scary for horror fans to watch and love every year. This year an incredible director of horror is bringing to light a new film of his filled with folklore and scary anticipation for its arrival.

Robert Eggers is a relatively new director in the world of cinema with only having directed a handful of films; however, each of those films have been of great success and have received a cult following of fans who have a true love for the stories told through Robert Eggers directing and style. One of his new films coming out later this year is called “Werwulf”. This film is going to be a 13th century gothic horror film with actors such as Aaron Taylor Johnson, Lily Rose Depp, William Defoe, and even Ralph Ineson being in the film. While little is known about the exact story of the film yet, it is still an exciting and up and coming film that many are eager to see especially since it will be from director Robert Eggers, as he often includes older periods of time with a strong focus on accuracy on costumes and details from the periods. The film “Werwulf” is said to be released to theaters on December 25 2026.
