This past Friday night the PHS swim team competed against Goochland High School and great swims happened all across the board. The night started off with the 200 medley relay; for the boys A relay Hunter Shupp swam backstroke, Joe Kelley swam breaststroke, Brady Rinehart swam butterfly and Ben Compton finished strong with freestyle getting them a solid third place in the event.  For the girls A relay Chloe Balas swam backstroke, Bailey Pennington swam breaststroke, Elizabeth Vallent swam butterfly and Hayden Russell swam freestyle securing them second place. As the meet went on many time drops were made by Emma Brown, Elizabeth Vallent, Hayden Russell, Bailey Pennington, Rylan Fox, Emmett Howard and Jeremiah Brooks. The whole team fought hard, swam fast and were very encouraging to each other. While everybody on the team raced very well only two individuals got first in their events. The junior Hunter Shupp took first in his 100 freestyle event and the sophomore Bailey Pennington won her 100 butterfly. The girls 200 freestyle relay of Elizabeth Vallent, Hayden Russell, Lauren Scythes, and Chloe Balas also were able to get first towards the end of the meet. The team is very thankful to all that came out for support and will race again next Friday at the Hanover Hawk. Good luck Indians!
