Valentine’s Day is regarded as the day of love. A day where couples can express each other’s love with extravagant gifts. Though, Valentine’s Day has a rich, sort of all over the place history.
Valentine’s Day is rooted in both Christian and Roman religions respectively. With one St. Valentine is said to lead Christians out of Roman reach, who are said to fall in love with his jailor’s daughter. Others say it was in honor of the Roman festival for the god of agriculture celebrating fertility.
Some say that the holiday is far more tragic than romantic. While others speculate the holiday is mainly pagan. Though most agree that Valentine’s Day comes from both of the two stories.
Valentine’s Day is a very loving holiday, with a complex history. Its origins aren’t exactly known. It’s definitely a fun holiday, and since it’s on a Saturday this year, use it to treat your partner on a date!
