The Powhatan Christmas Parade was unfortunately cancelled due to snowy weather with hardly any notice, but twenty four hours. They had no plans of rescheduling this usually fun and beneficial event for many vendors and business down the roads it goes down.
The parade has been a tradition here in Powhatan for sixty years, and serves as a way to bring the community together. So many people were upset when it cancelled with barely any prior notices. Many businesses also support the parade and are supported by the parade. There was also never a weather date or a backup plan noted by the community
This has led to many people being upset, and frustrated by the decision to cancel, as going to the parade is a tradition for many families. For some it isn’t Christmas without out, though we hope to see it return next year! You can support many of the business down the road it travels down daily such as Rise and Grind, Maxey’s, and 1933 Public House!
