Powhatan Girls Soccer

The Girls Soccer season is off to a start. Their first game of the season was a victory against Clover Hill with a final score of 3-1. The goals were scored by Junior, Samantha Martin, and Seniors, Maddie Ickes and Jenna Autry.

The team was on a pretty consistent losing streak after their victorious start to the season. They had lost 5 games in a row with 2 games being shut outs. This streak was finally broken on April 18 at a Home game against Lloyd C. Bird. The final score was 12-0.

There are a lot of talented Seniors on the team this year. Some have committed to continue their Soccer career in college and others are exploring other amazing opportunities.

Senior, Jenna Autry, has committed to playing soccer at Richard Bland College to get her Associates in Science in the Fall. Senior, Bella Russell, is attending the University of Wyoming to play Soccer and major in Business with a minor in Ceramics.

Other Varsity Seniors include Aubrey Morgan who is attending JMU to study Nursing, Brynna Tester who is going to Penn State to study Kinesiology, Kaitlyn Rissmeyer who is attending UVA to study Biomedical Engineering, Sally Woodard who is joining the United States Coast Guard, Sadie Bondurant who is attending the University of South Carolina to study Advertising, Mara Rutkai who is going to Virginia Tech to study Building Construction and Alli Magil who is attending Cosmetology school.

The Girls Soccer Senior Night is tonight May 7th. It is a home game against George Wythe. The game starts at 6 pm. The ceremony will  be held after the game. Come out to support the girls varsity soccer team.

JV has had a better season this year than Varsity. JV has won 4 games, lost 3 and has tied 1.

Good luck to both JV and Varsity Girls Soccer for the rest of their seasons.
