Former President Joe Biden has cancer. More specifically, prostate cancer that has actually managed to spread into his bones. Prostate cancer, if not spreading to other body parts has about 97% five year survival rate, but once it spreads the number oft drops to below 40%. The cancer has been stated to be hormone-sensitive however, so treatment or at least just management seems more likely. The Gleason score for his cancer is a 9. The scores range from 6 to 10, with all above an 8 being considered dangerous and high-risk. His cancer seems very intensive; it’s odd it was not seen sooner.
According to FOX NEWS (A usually biased source so take this with a grain of salt.) Biden’s last prostate exam was about 10 years ago, which, as any male over 45 could tell you, is far too infrequent. You are to have one every 1 to 2 years. However, ten years ago Biden was in fact 72. Many professionals recommend you stop prostate exams after 70 or just refuse to do it all together as it can be considered unnecessary due to a belief their cancer would be insignificant, and that “They would be more likely to die of other conditions first.” Thus blame can’t really be placed on anyone; men of his age usually don’t get this checked out. He’s lucky it was spotted at all.
However, due to the severity of the cancer already, it is highly unlikely this is a new development, and some speculate this was hidden from Americans to maybe increase confidence in the President of the time; however, as with many conspiracy theories, there is no evidence of this. Odds are that in that ten year period between exams, it developed and spread.
Whatever you think about Mr. Biden, the former President does seem to have a very receptive form of cancer and has a chance to recover.
