April is Sexual Assault awareness month and, although it isn’t thought about as much as Autism awareness month or Military child awareness month, it’s still important to mention topics such as this because, of how traumatic sexual assault can be. Sexual assault is not caused by someone showing too much skin, being flirty, or because they just want attention.
Although, it may be quick to label it as such, it would be dismissive and arrogant to all the muslims who’d cover their entire body in the name of Allah just to get violated. Not to mention that even if someone should not have to fear being sexually assaulted or raped just because they wore a half shirt, or shorts too short. You saying that people that show skin is scandalous and dirty, you are part of the issue with today’s society and its issues.
Being flirty with someone doesn’t excuse you to touch someone however they please. Did they call you cute? Sure. Did you ask to touch them? No? Then don’t touch them. They aren’t asking to be touched. Simple as that.
Not to mention, to label someone who had experienced sexual assault as an attention seeker is just cruel and overall apathetic. It happens quite frequently on the internet. Someone famous sexually assaults someone, but they are likable, so people are fast to defend the famous guy over the victim. Here’s a reminder that you have not met them in real life so you do not know what they have done or who they even are as a person.
