The March Madness tournament for men’s college basketball has come to an end. On April 7th at 8:50 pm this month of basketball came to an end in the final. Both number one seeds Florida and Houston faced off for the title of national champions.
This is only the second time since 2008 all four number one seeds made it to the final four. These four teams are Auburn in the south division, Florida in the west, Duke in the east, and Houston from the Midwest bracket.
This being said there have been some upsets and close games along the way. This year though there were not many upsets as the top seeds seemed to advance the furthest. This can be seen by looking at the teams that made it to the elite 8 that consisted of 4 number one seeds 3 number 2 seeds and 1 number 3 seed. A notable upset in the first round of this tournament though when number 12 seed McNeese upset the 5h seed Clemson.
This tournament also had standout players such as Walter Clayton Jr. from Florida who averaged about 24 points per game in this tournament. He also saved his teams in many close games such as the comeback in the Auburn game where he scored two threes in the last seconds of the game to come back. Another notable player is Cooper Flagg who has been the talk of the season. He is a freshmen at Duke who technically should be a senior in high school who had a dominant performance throughout the season. The real question is if he will be returning to Duke or go straight into the NBA to get drafted next season.
This is what the whole season has been leading up for many teams and is a big event for college basketball. Brackets are made everywhere to see who can make the best bracket. In the end the 2025 national Champions were the Florida Gators led by coach Todd Golden in another close game. The end score was 65-63 in an amazing victory for the gators, but a heartbreaking loss for Houston.
