Have you ever wondered the real reason behind the cartoon Dora the Explorer? You may assume it was created to help with problem solving or even mystery. Which yes those are a couple reasons for the creation of the show but it isn’t the main reason. Dora the explorer was created to help teach young children Spanish. In 1997, Nickelodeon wanted to create a new show and considering the production of the other shows they wanted to do something a little different. Learning spanish, math, and of course the problem solving skills.
Dora the Explorer was also meant to reflect the growing hispanic population in the US. Young Latin American children look at Dora as a role model. Dora’s best friend Boots is also a very important character in the cartoon. Boots represent loyalty, sweetness, loving, and always eager to learn something or do something new. Showing children that it’s good to be a nice person and treat other with kindness while always trying new things.
