This is Mr Jones, a new teacher here at Powhatan High School that has only been with us for 3 months, but he’s already got stories. He doesn’t yet sponsor any clubs, but he has goals to one day.
Q: When coming into teaching, what did you expect? What was it really like for you?
A: At the beginning of my career all I wanted was for the kids to come into class and want to learn, maybe get good grades.
Q: What was your favorite part of teaching and why?
A: I’d definitely say my favorite part of teaching is the kids, they keep me young and up to date with slang.
Q: What is one of the craziest moments that stands out in your years of teaching?
A: A couple years ago these two students were fighting and I tried intervening and one of them elbowed me right in the nose, I went to break up a fight on the bus lot and got punched in the nose.
Q: What is your favorite year of teaching and why?
A: 2006, took my first students to europe
Q: What is one piece of life advice you can give to your students for their future?
A: To have a plan for your future, and have a backup plan.
Q: What would you give up teaching for?
A: Not a thing.
