Our holiday tradition of door decorating started in the year 2021 and despite all the effort and creativity through the previous years, 2024 stands at the peak of door decoration. The previous 3 years were only composed of individuals but this year entire hallways could all work together for a chance of winning. Due to working in a group, this opened up room for the possibility of themes which were excellently executed with sheer variety and effort.
Just a couple of themes include Dinosaurs for Christmas, the nightmare before Christmas, and a Hawaiian Christmas. While all of these themes were lovely and incredible there was one that stood out as an overall favorite. The 1034 hallway of Cosmetology, Mr. Beasley, Ms. Meade, Ms. Barnes and Mr. Oz won the door decorating contest with their theme of Mele Kalikimaka.
It wasn’t just the teachers either, it was a large collaborative effort made by the students throughout all of their classes. One of the best parts about the tradition and a large reason why so many teachers get into the practice is so they can help to spread Christmas cheer and pull students together and create teamwork skills in a festive fun way.
The remaining winners of the other categories are holiday movie for Ms. Smith V102, Holiday music in the 1034 hall, the English hallway got the traditional holiday as well as best group, Winter Weather by Ms. Mickens. The best group work was done by the English hallway and the most festive hallway was of course upstairs science.
