Come out on Saturday December 7 at 3:00pm for the annual Powhatan Christmas Parade presented by Luck Stone. Hundreds of people come out and enjoy the holiday and festivities. It brings families and friends closer during the holidays. The parade route starts at the firehouse and continues through downtown Powhatan ending at the courthouse.
This year, there will be 72 groups participating in the Christmas parade including: fire departments, police departments, dance studios, clubs from Powhatan High School, and other groups in the community.
Food vendors will be located in the parking lot across from four seasons along with the craft vendors being set up in booths on the courthouse lawn so bring cash for vendors who don’t take cards. The food venders who will be selling delicious, tasty treats are:
- Star of Grace BBQ
- Mama Browns
- Jolly J’s Kettle Korn
- American Legion Posts 201
- Chick-Fil-A
There also will be community vendors on the courthouse lawn selling handmade items including things like crafts, cakes, toys, face painting, jellies and jams, and more so you should definitely come out and have a good time!!
The Powhatan Christmas Mother
Lastly, we can’t forget about this year’s Powhatan Christmas mother, Wendy Goodwyn. She has lived in Powhatan va since 1976. She worked her way into the banking industry but decided her love for kids was more important to her and opened “Kountry Kids” daycare in 1992. Full of love and care. Family after family attends the daycare knowing they are in good hands. Wendy and her husband have been married and keeping it strong for 40 years, congratulations to them.
She has retired from the daycare but is still helping out families in the community by volunteer work! She stays busy organizing toy drives, pet food drives, and selling sweatshirts and ornaments where proceeds go to help community families in need.
