Christmas is a magical time of year for so many people, especially for local Virginia woman Tracy Demeyer. Tracy loves Christmas, and it is her favorite time of the year. However, since being diagnosed with ALS her health has taken a turn for the worst. She is likely to not make it to Christmas.
Seeing how much the holiday means to her, her friends and family were determined to make her final Christmas as special as possible. With this in mind they reached out to their local community to make one of her wishes come true.
She loves Christmas caroling so her family friends invited their local community to come out to their house and carol. They talked to their church and some local community members thinking they would have about 10 people show up. Instead they had hundreds and hundreds of people come out to show their support.
“I’m still kind of blown away by the turnout here but it’s incredible. When it started we were expecting about ten and I gave up on keeping track of how many people showed up,” – Brian Demeyer
Everyone was dressed up in holiday attire ready to spread their Christmas spirit. This was such a special opportunity for many people who wanted to help out a fellow community member. It was even more special for people who had loved ones who also suffered from ALS. Many families said that it made it even more special to them because they also had family members pass away and wanted to help out another family going through what they had been through.
This is what the holiday season is all about. Giving back to your community and people in need. It is so nice to see people coming together to make Tracy’s wish come true.
