The PHS Girls volleyball team has really shown some great work and growth this season; they wrapped up their season with an 18-3 regular season record. This year they are under new management being led by Amber Foos, and she really transformed the entire program.
During the girls’ regular season, they won their first season scrimmage against Hanover and shortly after won the first home game of the season against Cosby High School. Sadly, when we went to Cosby on an away game, they got us back for our prior win. As amazing as the girls’ season has been, it came with setbacks, just like Cosby in the away game Midlothian High School also set us back a couple times.
Their team consists of girls from every grade, including the senior power in Grace Gregoire, to the six juniors, including our volleyball captains Mazie Harmon, Lucy Mincz, and Katelyn Williams. This year we also had four sophomores, along with our two newest freshman teammates, Jane Holt and Imani Whitever. These girls ran a fierce team, along with their new coaching staff this season, which helped them finish their season in 4th place in the region and 2nd place in the district.
Throughout the season, the girls continued to dominate showing grit and the determination to take it all the way; they soared through the regular season to make it to the regionals against Patrick Henry High School. The girls won that game in 5 sets, sadly during the second round of the regionals our girls were brought down by the number 1 ranked team in the season.
We are so excited to see how our volleyball team does next year!
