Yet again another great season for Powhatan’s girls field hockey team. They ended their regular season off with an undefeated record of 15-0. They are coached by Stephanie Tyson and Caryn Rehme.
This year the team consists of 11 seniors all who play a crucial role in the great success. Their experience as well as athleticism is showcased in every game. They are ranked the top team in the region along with being the top public school team in the Metro Richmond area.
This is a historic season for these ladies as it is the first time in team history they have gone undefeated in the regular season. With this being said they hope to keep the wins going in the regional tournament.
They have already secured their first win in this tournament on 10/30 against Monacan with a 6-0 win advancing them into the region finals. This final game will be held on 11/4 at home against Atlee. If they win this game they have secured a win in the region along with a spot in the state tournament. A win against Atlee also means Powhatan will host their first round at home in the state quarterfinals.
This team is one that if you have not yet, you should definitely go out and see. This team is a family, but they also push each other. These girls have the grit and determination and many see them going far.
This program is one that never disappoints and these girls have set a new standard. The JV team also with an undefeated record will have a hard task filling these shoes next year. The girls field Hockey team has made its school and community proud and we wish them the best of luck in the upcoming games.
