This year’s football season has already had a powerful start going up against Mechanicsville. Shortly into the game Mechanicsville would use the kickoff to drive the ball down the field but missed the opportunity to get the field goal, using the miss Powhatan would efficiently guide the ball to a touchdown.
Starting off strong with an immediate touchdown the rest of the game fell into Powhatan’s hands and spiraled into victory.
When asked about the score the spectators responded guessing Powhatan’s would score in the thirties, but instead blazed past it into a 46-13 win. The present Powhatan fans were deafeningly loud with cheers and one fan would use a powerful statement describing the team as having life difficult to halt.
Among the coaches Nate Mullins in his 10th year of coaching would deliver the news that our current team is largely made up of veterans with about 42 varsity players. The players reportedly do weight training 3-4 days a week to prepare for each game.
On the players themselves among the four team captains Edgar Alejo would speak about the team’s performance in breaking through defenses with strategic throws. The team would gear themselves to explosive reaction speed and running the ball. Several Players would head out to the field practicing various techniques after their practice would end to make certain of their performance during games.
Former player Matthew Layman described the team as having strong perseverance and the sense of family found amongst the players. Before games the players would listen to various songs, which can be heard during their warm ups.
If this game is going to be anything like the future ones this season is going to be heavy on the cheer team. Whenever Powhatan scores any point the cheerleaders will drop and do as many push ups as powhatan’s current score. According to the cheer teams media manager and assistant coach, Football happens to be the preferred sport to cheer at. They are especially fond of the homecoming games and pep rallies.
This year is all around promising and is sure to provide great performances, memories and experiences.
