Back in December 2021, Envigo, a beagle breeding facility in Cumberland VA, was uncovered by PETA, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. The company was found breeding beagles to use them for medical testing and research. The conditions of this facility were completely inhumane.

As of June 2022, Envigo announced that it would close its facility in Cumberland County. But for many there was still the question of where would all of the puppies go. There were over five thousand dogs and puppies left with undetermined fate.

With this news of closing Envigo, many were happy and relieved that the long torture and pain these puppies went through was finally over.

A month later, over four thousand puppies were removed from the facility and brought to the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS). Over the course of 2 months, beagles continued to be removed from the facility.

Today, the puppies have been and are still being rehomed all over the world. Here are some of the few happy furry friends in their new homes.

  • Rose was discovered in PETA’s Clinic in Ashland Virginia. She was brought to her new home in North Carolina. She loves long nature walks and being pampered by her new loving family!

    '
  • Ruby-Rose (formerly known as Birch) was adopted by a family in Northern Virginia. She loves walks and hikes in the woods!

    '
  • Meet Morty! He was adopted in Virginia but then became the first ever Envigo survivor to live in New Jersey!

    '
  • This is Maddy! She is enjoying her new life in Northeastern Ohio!
