Class of 2021 Powhatan High Running Back Mitchell Johnson has officially announced his commitment to play football at the University of Emory & Henry. Emory & Henry are moving from Division III football to Division II next season. Johnson finished his high school career with 2534 yards on 417 total carries along with 25 touchdowns. Johnson was also named the PHS Homecoming King during his senior season, the 2021 season. Mitchell Received offers from 6 schools including; Chowan, Hampden Sydney, Christopher Newport, Emory & Henry, VMI, and UVA. Through his High School career Johnson was named a; VHSL Second Team All-State, Second Team All-Metro, First Team All Region, 804 Varsity Player of the week, and Team offensive MVP.
